“I’m guessing most of the people who run the 5K are a combination of people who are using it as a tuneup run, and they run larger races, and people who are getting into running and it’s a steppingstone . . . ,” said Jason Lipset, race director of the Long Island Marathon. “And of course you have a lot of charities and stuff, and 5K is sort of a distance that more or less anybody can do in a reasonable amount of time.”

About 75 of those running Saturday were raising about ,000 for the Michigan-based Williams Syndrome Association, said Rob Dell’Unto, 46, of Rockville Centre, whose 12-year-old daughter, Julia, has the syndrome. The genetic condition causes developmental delays and medical problems such as cardiovascular disease.

This is the ninth year that Long Islanders have been raising money for the association through marathon-weekend events, he said. Others have participated in similar events nationwide, which also are designed to raise awareness about the syndrome.

Miller, 51, captioned the picture, “Practice what you preach! #saveyourtearsforthepillow.”

The saying comes from what Miller often told her former students on Dance Moms.

As RadarOnline.com has exclusively reported, the controversial TV personality is making plans for the worst, weeks after being diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a rare and fast-growing cancer that affects the lymph nodes.

Miller, who was disgraced by her financial misdeeds and served time in prison, has been getting her business affairs, will and funeral plans in order, a source ominously told Radar.

She was diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks after being released from prison to a halfway house. The former Dance Moms star had been incarcerated for hiding income from the IRS. Radar exclusively revealed on March 27 that Miller had been transferred from Victorville federal prison to a halfway house in Van Nuys, California. But just days later, Miller’s medical crisis began!

On April 17, Miller went into surgery for a multi-level laminectomy after she experienced “excruciating neck pain” and weakness in her arm. Dr. Hooman M. Melamed told PEOPLE that she had become paralyzed from the neck down and she was extremely close to death moments after she was rushed to Cedar Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital.

Miller was later diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, a type of cancer, and since, then she’s been terrified!

“She’s strong, but not good. It’s bad and very aggressive,” a source close to the notorious reality teacher exclusively told Radar. “She is devastated because she has just been released, and now this. She feels cursed.”

Previously, Miller shared an Instagram photo of herself looking haggard and terrified in a hospital bed while hooked up to an IV. In the caption, Miller wrote, “So much gratitude and love for those who listened, those who looked deeper and those who leapt into action. So much more I wish I could say……about how quickly your life can change at the hands of others. Thanks for prayers and love!”

But now, Miller appears to still be emotional about her condition while lying in the hospital bed.

Her doctor has said she’ll need another spinal surgery.

Miller is also expected to undergo aggressive chemotherapy. A source has told Radar, “She doesn’t think she’s going to make this.”
